Dundee Pension Centre Trade Union Learning Reps and Management

held a joint Learn at Work day on Tuesday 17 November where a variety of options were available to staff through the day.

The day was operated in two main ways, a series of facilitated workshops in the Macphail Suite and also by static stands where Pension Centre Staff could take the opportunity to discuss there learning needs with the local colleges and other learning providers in the area.

The talks on offer on the day included Skills for Life/ Information Technology, Dyslexia Awareness by Hannah Pugh of Dyslexia Scotland, State Pension/Pension Credit General Awareness and a talk about Local Trade Union History in the Dundee area by Mike Arrnott, Secretary of the local Trades Council.

The DWP Live Well Work Well reps were also on hand all day and many of our staff took information away from the Local Health Board representative on Smoking Cessation.

Although this event was on a smaller scale than previous years it was enjoyed equally by as many staff. The benefit of having this event in November rather than around the official day in May was that there was not so much pressure on learning providers availably to attend.

Thanks go to all PCS ULRs both from the centre and out with that helped during the day to make this a successful event.
