Seven Union Learning Reps from Tayside and Aberdeen recently completed their initial ULR training.
The new ULR’s came from the Scottish Prison Officer’s Association near Forfar, the Public and Commercial Services Union from the Department of Work and Pensions in Dundee, Aberdeen and Arbroath and PCS from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs in Sidlaw House, Dundee to work on their course at the Rail Unions’ Learning Centre at Dundee’s Tay Bridge Station.
The new ULRs plan to use the training as a platform to get people aboard the learning train using this as an engine to put union membership on the right lines.
Keen to make his point, HMRC’s Dave Rennie said:
“This course has put us on the right track to guide members towards appropriate learning and training, whether for career reasons or simply for enjoyment. We can now signal the way forward for our members’ learning. The course was well presented by Steve Tolland from Stow College, who kept us interested, ensuring there were no sleepers. We appreciate the efforts of Colin McAteer of ASLEF in securing the Rail Unions’ Learning Centre for us to use, as the local college had no accommodation available.”
